Winery review: Cupcake Pinot Grigio wine is refreshing. At the same time, however, it is also incredibly creamy. Aromas of honeysuckle and fresh green fruit unearth as they drive to flavors of exotic and stone fruits, like pineapple and cantaloupe on the palate. A crisp acidity also appears, and it is super enjoyable. The finish is brisk and lingering with an intriguing chocolate aftertaste. Tasty, approachable, and creamy, Cupcake Pinot Grigio is really distinctive and compelling. It is fun as in the purest form and keeps things interesting from the first sip across the last. Coming from Italy, Cupcake Pinot Grigio has enough tropicality to satisfy everyone. It is a wine destined to be enjoyed poolside cabana. (WinePros.Org)
Wine Folly: pg 149, Pinot Gris: Pinot Gris (aka Pinot Grigio) is a pink grape mutation of Pinot Noir that's most famous for its zesty white wines that range in style from dry to just plain sweet. Pinot Gris makes an excellent pairing with white meats, seafood, and food with a fruit element, such as lemons, oranges, peaches, or apricots.
My review: (Served Chilled) On the nose, very sweet with lots of fruit immediately hitting you. On the palette, it's quite fruity and sweet with lots of pineapple and melon being very noticeable. Despite the scales we've found calling it very dry, I find it much more on the sweet side.
I tasted this on its own with no food.
